I
have been working on genealogy for many years now, and have amassed a
database of over 25,000 individual names. With the exception of one
GEDCOM with about 100 names in it, I have entered all of these names into
my database by hand. Most of my families resided in Pennsylvania in
the Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, Armstrong, and Clarion County, PA areas,
but some of the earlier lines do come from New England and other various
places. Some of the names I work on the most are Nulf (and it's
variant spellings), Bish, Bennett, Confer, Yale, Stubbs, Munn, and Gelnett.
Most of these names have some direct connection to me, some are simply collateral lines, and others, especially the royal lines, are ones that fell through after some scrutiny. (I do have one sound royal line- Through my Munn line, I am a direct descendent of Alice (Freeman) Thompson, who is a direct descendent of King Alfred the Great.) I have also worked on a number of early Fox Twp., Elk Co., PA families buried in the Ridge Cemetery that were among the earliest settlers in this area . They have no familial connection to me at all. I have removed the database of names that I had on here for two reasons: the first is that the list was old, and I am trying to think of some way to update it easily, and second, I have gotten some complaints about the names of some living family members being up on the website.
